A Camp for Preschoolers
On July 9th Don Bosco Bulgaria Foundation organized for a day a camp for the youngest visitors or our Don Bosko Center in the Roma district of Stara Zagora. The place of the camp was the town of Kazanlak. The topic: “The story of Noah.”

In the morning with 6 kids we arived in Kazanlak. Several games about Noah were played. We also wathced togather an amination movie about Noah. One of the games was on the river in Kazanlak. Separated into two teams and helped by animators, the children had to make to reafts for a competition in the river. Both of the rafts were created succesfully.
At the evening we came back to Stara Zagora.
Annual Awards
On June 30 in Don Bosco center we performed the traditional annual awards for our most diligent students. During the year they collect points in each of the days in the center according to their participation in the activities.
10 of the students were rewarded. The biggest awards were for the first three winners.
Break-Dance Participation in the Feast of Roma Culture
On June 13th in Kazanlak the break-dance group “Red Earth Crew“ participated in The Feast of Roma Culture. The group is one of the activities in the Don Bosco Center in Stara Zagora. The feast is part of the project “Touched by Antiquity“, Kazanlak municipality, operational program „Regional Development“.
The youths opened the feast with a dance. Performances or Roma kids and youths from the town and the aria followed.
Fairy Tale Forest
A Fairy Tale Forest was organized by Don Bosko Bulgaria Foundation for the Children’s Day.
In a forest next to the Roma district, about 30 kids circled between fairy tale characters and helped them deal with some challenges. The characters were masked volunteers from the project „For a better chance 3″ (European Voluntary Service) and several more youth volunteers from different places in Bulgaria. After the kids helped the characters successfully, at the end of the forest several chocolates were waiting for each child. Through this entertainment, the organizers wish to interest the Roma children to the fairy tales and to show them that they teach us good things.
Africa Day
On April 14th the EVS volunteers of Don Bosco Bulgaria Foundation – Dominika and Jana – organized for the kids and youths of Don Bosco Center a series of entertainment and educative activities under the title „Africa Day“.

Dressed as African girls, Dominika and Jana told the kids about Africa, and there was a quiz about the geography of the continent. Several games followed, connected with the continent.

As an end, there was prepared a Skype conversation with Czech volunteers in Zimbabwe and with the kids they work with. But because of a stormy weather in the African country, the connection did not work. Therefore, we achieved it a week later.

Events for the International Romani Day
For the International Romani Day (April 8), on 2-6 April the Salesians of Don Bosko in Bulgaria organized a series of events for the children and youths, who are part of the Salesian Center in the Romani district of Stara Zagora.

The fist event was gymnastics club, where two groups of children and youths, leaded by instructor, could jump on trampolines and could use the exercise equipment. Later we took the students to a locality out of the city, where each of them could climb a steep smooth rock, using climbing equipment. On other day we went to a cinema in the city.

A few more sport events followed. For the participants in our center we organized Olympics, where they competed in different disciplines. But the biggest attractions were the football and basketball tournaments for the students form the district. Separated on several teams, the players had hours of matches. Through these two tournaments we could reach many students who have not come to our center yet.
Rattan Basket Weaving with „The Different Sight“ Festival
On 22 September for the fifth consecutive year there was an art festival in Stara Zagora “The Different Sight”. Don Bosco Bulgaria Foundation was represented with rattan basket weaving. Though making one basket takes about an hour, the interest was very high, especially among the kids.

Photo-Exhibition „See my Seemingly Diffefent World“ – Already in Sofia
On 19 September in Sofia was presented the photo-exhibition „See my Seemingly Different World“. It will be available for 10 days. It represents photos from the every day life in the Roma district in Stara Zagora. Тhis is through the authentic view of the Roma kids and youths. Through these photos they shаre their world with the others.
The exhibition is the final product of six months of work, when the kids and the youths had the possibility to get to know the photography better as an art, to experiment and to take different roles.

Summer Camp for Girls
Summer Camp for Roma GirlsFrom 30.07 to 05.08. was the camp for girls from the Roma district in Stara Zagora, who our foundation works with. The place: „Koprinka“ dam, near Kazanlak. The topic: „A trip to Narnia“ The participants were 12 girls at the age of 9-14. There were educational topics for them. During the games, they were gaining skills like cooking and tailing.
Summer Camp for Boys
On 16-22 July was the summer camp for boys from the Roma district in Stara Zagora, who Don Bosko Bulgaria Foundation works with. The place of the camp: near Koprinka dam in Central Bulgaria. The topic: „City in the Jungle“.

During the thematic games, the boys rushed to discover the lost city in the jungle. They searched for golden stones with compass. They learned how to condense water from the air. Also, they learned how to make a hut, a flying balloon from nylon, to make candles and other interesting skills. Some of them learned to swim in the dam.
